If you are anything like me you are totally freaking out at this time of year for one reason…holiday makeup bargains! Right around this time stores like Ulta and Sephora are full of holiday packages of high end products at a reasonable price. Some of these sets may seem pricey at first but when you compare the cost of the package to the standard cost each product in the set, you really do get more bang for your buck! These gift sets are also a great way to dip your toes into the world of high end makeup if you happen to be curious about some products but you don’t want to risk throwing away your money on a full sized product that you’ll just end up hating. I thought I would touch on a few of these sets that I have my heart set on this year.
One thing that I got so excited about this year was that NYX released a few adorable stocking stuffer sets. NYX leans more toward the drugstore level when it comes to prices but their products are amazing! These lip sets are adorable and filled with some great colors. They are $11.99, and with each individual product costing $5.99 you are getting a great deal.
Next up are a couple of sets from Too Faced. Last year I got the La Belle Carousel set and it was great. This year I’ve locked my eyes on the La Petite Maison set and the French Kisses Melted set. La Petite Maison comes with 12 beautiful neutral shadows and a deluxe sample of the Better Than Sex mascara. Standard 9 shadow palettes from Too Faced run at about $36 and the deluxe sample mascara costs $12. At a price of $39 this set really is a steal! Another great deal is the French Kisses Melted set. It includes 4 different shades of the Melted lipsticks and costs $25. This set is a great way to try out different shades without spending $21 on one lipstick!
My final must-have of the year, the Tarte Greatest Glitz collector’s set. This entire set is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. I didn’t think I could het much better than the Away Oui Go palette I purchased last year, but Tarte released this set and I am in love. There are 24 great shadows in shades of gold, pink, mauve, and bronze. There are also three beautiful blushes, a deluxe sample of the Lights, Cameras, Lashes mascara, and a sample size LipSurgence lip crème. I also hate to let the packaging sell me, but the sparkling sequined case it comes in is also a great selling point! But the sparkles are not a distraction, Tarte has great pigment in every product! This set is a $322 value that sells for $49, what a steal! I don’t know about you, but I need to add this set to my fabulous collection.
Formal has a special place in my heart because I get to get all dressed up and dance the night away! It’s like getting to relive prom all over again in college. When it comes to formal you may not be able to, or let’s be honest want to, spend the money that you did in high school on your makeup. No worries, you can look fab without having to hire a makeup artist.
I’ll put a list of all the prices on the products I used at the bottom of this post. I started off with the usual routine, Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation and a little Maybelline Master Conceal under my eyes. I set my foundation with Maybelline Fit Me matte poreless pressed powder.
I used a touch of Too Faced bronzer in the shade Chocolate Soleil and Too Faced blush in the shade Who’s Your Poppy. I tried to keep my eyeshadow a bit more muted because I knew that I wanted to rock a bold lip. I used Tarte Eyeshadow in the shade Private Chateau as a base. Rather than using a bold black, I used Tarte’s Stargazing on the Seine in the crease of my eye, which is a more muted grey color with a bit of sparkle.
I lined my eyes with the Revlon Colorstay skinny liquid liner, but be warned you need extreme control of your hands to use this liner or it might get messy. I used Urban Decay Perversion mascara and a bit of brown brow powder with Benefit Gimmie Brow.
For my lipstick, I first lined my lips with NYX Lip liner in the shade Auburn. Then I used MAC lipstick in the shade Diva and I was ready for the night! Play up this look for the next formal event you have. You are sure to look fabulous!

With the summer months fading away and cold weather starting to creep in, I feel like my skin can get a little dull. By now my tan has faded away and that extra glow that the summer sun gives me is gone. Around this time of year is when I like to pull out my illuminator.
I’ve recently began using the NYX Born To Glow Illuminator in the shade sunbeam. I got it at Ulta for $7.49. I’m a bit more on the pale side, so the pinkish tones of this product compliment my skin well. If you are a bit more tan, and have warmer undertones they also offer this product in the shade gleam which is more bronze in color.
I like to apply this products on the tops of my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, along my brow bones, on my cupids bow, and on top of my chin. I’ll pretty much apply this where the light would naturally hit my face just to give my skin the glow that it’s missing. The formula is super smooth and easy to blend.
It’s a bit hard to see in pictures, but I promise that in person this product gives your skin just want it needs! I know when the summer comes back around I’ll be buying this product in the shade gleam to go with my tan skin. I won’t give up my fabulous glow!
It’s Halloween and I’m sure that you are all putting the finishing touches on your fabulous looks for tonight. I thought I would give you all a little overview of the makeup I did for tonight. This year I decided to keep it fairly simple. I am obsessed with The Vampire Diaries so I went for a makeup look inspired by the show.
This look is quick and easy and can be done using products that you may already have. I applied all of my makeup like I normally would, with a simple smokey eye. The next thing I did was draw veins under my eyes using a NYX lip pencil in the color Nebula, but you can use any black, red, or plum lip or eye liner. This one was $3.49 at Ulta.
To top off my look I lined my lips with the same lip pencil then applied MAC lipstick in the shade Cyber. This lipstick costs $17 so it is a bit of a splurge, but worry not I do have a cheaper option for you. NYX soft matte lip creme in the shade Transylvania is $5.99 and has the same deep purple pigment. With just a dribble of blood from some watered down red face paint, I was ready for the night.
I’ve always been a big fan of glitz and glam, and that stands true when it comes to my eyeshadow. Sometimes you need a little something to take your eye makeup to the next level. This NYX Roll On Shimmer does just that. I have it in the shade Salmon and I got it at Ulta for $3.99. It’s a nice dusty rose color.
I use this product to take my eye makeup from day to night. I apply the shimmer to only my lid and then shade around the outer edge of my eye and the crease. To help the product stick to your eyelid you may want to use an eyeshadow primer or a touch of concealer. Even without primer, this is a shimmer that will last you all through the night. This shadow is perfect for a night out, formal, or any other even where you want to add the perfect touch of glitz to your look.
Run out and grab this shimmer for yourself today. Ulta carries it in 16 different shades. Whatever your preference may be, we can sparkle and look fabulous together.
Get excited because it’s homecoming! Today is the homecoming football game at my school and I have to look fab for the tailgate. I thought I’d give you a little overview of the products I used so you can look just as great for tailgates, football games, or any other events you might have going on. The look I have today is a little mixture of high end and budget beauty products, but worry not because there are cheaper substitutes for the high end products that I use. I will include all of the prices at the bottom of this post.
I started off with the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation and a touch of Maybelline Master Conceal concealer. I set my foundation and concealer with the Maybelline Fit Me matte poreless pressed powder. I also used NYX Born To Glow liquid illuminator in the shade Sunbeam on my cheekbones.
To add a little color back to my face I used Too Faced bronzer in the shade Sun Bunny Dark and blush in the shade Who’s Your Poppy. As a base for my eyeshadow I used Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in the shade Barely Branded. I used Tarte eyeshadow in the shades Champagne & Chocolat and Tea for Two in the creases of my eyes.
The eyeliner I used is my absolute favorite liquid liner! It is the Revlon Colorstay Skinny liquid liner in the shade Black Out. My mascara is Urban Decay Perversion. I filled in my eyebrows with Benefit Gimmie Brow in the shade Medium/Deep.
Finally down to the lipstick, I used NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Monte Carlo. I hope you all find this overview useful and you rock some of these outstanding products at your next event!
