Winter is a great time to pull out your plum and berry lipsticks. These shades are absolutely perfect for the cooler makeup tones that come out during the winter season. I am very fair complected so I find that these shades of berry and plum cool down and brighten my complexion.
First up is the Maybelline Super Stay 14 hour lipstick in the shade Fuchsia Forever. I got this lipstick at Walmart for $6.94. This was my go to lipstick for the longest time. It’s a beautiful berry pink that leans into the magenta family and the long wear is great. It may not be 14 hours, but the lipstick will last you all day with just 2 applications.
Next up is the Em Cosmetics soft matte lip cream in the shade Passion Berries. It’s a bit more pricey at $15 and can be purchased at emcosmetics.com. This lipstick is very similar to the Maybelline lipstick, just a bit darker. If we’re talking about taking a look from day to night, I would say to wear the Maybelline lipstick during the day then rock Passion Berries at night. The pigmentation of the lipstick is phenomenal and it is great for long wear.
The Covergirl Outlast Longwear lipstick in the shade Vixen Violet strays away from the plum/berry family slightly, but it is a great purple shade to try out this winter and maybe even take into the summer. I got it at Walmart for $6.86. The color payout on this lipstick is impressive and it does pull slightly toward berry shades. This lipstick makes a bold statement and is a great compliment for cooler makeup shades.
Finally I have this amazing MAC lipstick in the shade Cyber. This lipstick costs $17 and I highly recommend getting a lip liner to go along with it. The lipstick can be a bit uneven in application, but the liner helps to give you an even base. It is a great dark plum and it suits nightwear best.
Start experimenting and find the perfect plum or berry to complete your fabulous look this winter!
Formal has a special place in my heart because I get to get all dressed up and dance the night away! It’s like getting to relive prom all over again in college. When it comes to formal you may not be able to, or let’s be honest want to, spend the money that you did in high school on your makeup. No worries, you can look fab without having to hire a makeup artist.
I’ll put a list of all the prices on the products I used at the bottom of this post. I started off with the usual routine, Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation and a little Maybelline Master Conceal under my eyes. I set my foundation with Maybelline Fit Me matte poreless pressed powder.
I used a touch of Too Faced bronzer in the shade Chocolate Soleil and Too Faced blush in the shade Who’s Your Poppy. I tried to keep my eyeshadow a bit more muted because I knew that I wanted to rock a bold lip. I used Tarte Eyeshadow in the shade Private Chateau as a base. Rather than using a bold black, I used Tarte’s Stargazing on the Seine in the crease of my eye, which is a more muted grey color with a bit of sparkle.
I lined my eyes with the Revlon Colorstay skinny liquid liner, but be warned you need extreme control of your hands to use this liner or it might get messy. I used Urban Decay Perversion mascara and a bit of brown brow powder with Benefit Gimmie Brow.
For my lipstick, I first lined my lips with NYX Lip liner in the shade Auburn. Then I used MAC lipstick in the shade Diva and I was ready for the night! Play up this look for the next formal event you have. You are sure to look fabulous!

Get excited because it’s homecoming! Today is the homecoming football game at my school and I have to look fab for the tailgate. I thought I’d give you a little overview of the products I used so you can look just as great for tailgates, football games, or any other events you might have going on. The look I have today is a little mixture of high end and budget beauty products, but worry not because there are cheaper substitutes for the high end products that I use. I will include all of the prices at the bottom of this post.
I started off with the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation and a touch of Maybelline Master Conceal concealer. I set my foundation and concealer with the Maybelline Fit Me matte poreless pressed powder. I also used NYX Born To Glow liquid illuminator in the shade Sunbeam on my cheekbones.
To add a little color back to my face I used Too Faced bronzer in the shade Sun Bunny Dark and blush in the shade Who’s Your Poppy. As a base for my eyeshadow I used Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in the shade Barely Branded. I used Tarte eyeshadow in the shades Champagne & Chocolat and Tea for Two in the creases of my eyes.
The eyeliner I used is my absolute favorite liquid liner! It is the Revlon Colorstay Skinny liquid liner in the shade Black Out. My mascara is Urban Decay Perversion. I filled in my eyebrows with Benefit Gimmie Brow in the shade Medium/Deep.
Finally down to the lipstick, I used NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Monte Carlo. I hope you all find this overview useful and you rock some of these outstanding products at your next event!

I have heard so much hype about the new Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara that I just had to go out and buy it. I got lucky because Ulta was having a buy one get one half off sale on Maybelline products when I bought mine, but normally this mascara costs $8.99.
I tried it out for the first time today and I can see why everyone is buzzing about it. The formula is very pigmented and fast drying, which is a godsend in the world of mascara! The brush has short bristles on one side and long on the other so you can reach the roots of your eyelashes.
This is probably the only thing I’m not too thrilled about, mostly because I don’t like plastic mascara applicators. I also think that the short bristles weren’t as effective as they were intended to be. The formula can get a little clumpy, but that was nothing that an eyelash brush couldn’t fix. Overall I’d definitely say that this mascara has my eyelashes looking fabulous. I won’t hesitate to reach for it the next time I’m getting ready.
