Sensational Lashes

I have heard so much hype about the new Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara that I just had to go out and buy it. I got lucky because Ulta was having a buy one get one half off sale on Maybelline products when I bought mine, but normally this mascara costs $8.99.

I tried it out for the first time today and I can see why everyone is buzzing about it. The formula is very pigmented and fast drying, which is a godsend in the world of mascara! The brush has short bristles on one side and long on the other so you can reach the roots of your eyelashes.

This is probably the only thing I’m not too thrilled about, mostly because I don’t like plastic mascara applicators. I also think that the short bristles weren’t as effective as they were intended to be. The formula can get a little clumpy, but that was nothing that an eyelash brush couldn’t fix. Overall I’d definitely say that this mascara has my eyelashes looking fabulous. I won’t hesitate to reach for it the next time I’m getting ready.

Nail’ed It

I know that I just posted about my obsession with cobalt nail polish, but I couldn’t let fall roll up without bragging about my staple fall color. If I’m being honest, it was hard to choose which polish to brag about because I own pretty much this exact shade in so many different brands.

I chose to show off this Nicōle by OPI polish in the shade Feeling Very Cherry. I got this polish at Walmart $5.97. It has a fantastic pigment and shine to it. Two coats and you are good to go! I rarely have problems with this polish chipping. As far as fall goes, this shade couldn’t get more fall even if it wanted to. It is a beautiful deep wine red, and it pairs well with a vampy red lip!

I always find myself falling back on this shade. It’s very similar to Essie’s Wicked. This is a great shade to rock through the fall and into the winter. Fall is all about deep, rich, bold colors and this polish falls nothing short of that. So get out there and rock your fabulous deep red nails as soon as October hits! Trust me, it’s a beauty move you won’t regret!

Cobalt Craze

While I am excited about fall quickly approaching, part of me is still clinging onto the last bits of summer, and by part of me I mean my nails. I’m the type of girl who always has to have my nails polished, and I am always on the hunt for a new color. Bold cobalt blues were hot this summer and I was on a mission to find the perfect polish.

I have always been a big fan of Essie nail polishes, and this summer I came across a beautiful cobalt blue and I fell in love. My nails were this color most of the summer, which is big for me considering black is my usual go to color. The polish is called Butler Please and I got mine at Walmart for $8.47. This may seem like a lot for a nail polish, especially when you’re shopping at Walmart but it is one hundred percent worth it!

Think of it this way, you probably pay at least $10 every time you get your nails done so just by painting your nails once you already have your money’s worth! Essie is also worth the few extra dollars over a brand like Pure Ice because the formula in general is better. The pigment is bold and the polish is long lasting. I find that this color can lean a little toward the dull side so I always use a top coat just to add that extra shine. Essie has a wide variety of colors to choose from, so go out and find your perfect polish today! And just between us, fall color or not I’ll probably be rocking my fabulous cobalt blue nails all through October.

ULTAmate Rewards

IMG_2173So here’s a little trick of the trade that I want to share with all of you. The best decision I have made in my makeup-obsessed career is to sign up for the ULTAmate Rewards program. It is 100% free and you get great deals! All you have to do is register with your email and every purchase you make at an Ulta store gathers points. As time goes by those points add up and turn into store credit! By using my Ulta membership card every time I buy bargain beauty products I collect enough points to get high end products at great prices. You also get different perks throughout the year because you have a membership, not to mention freebies for your birthday! The only thing I regret is not becoming a member sooner!

Bold Red Lip

Call me crazy but the temperature dropped like three degrees, football season started, and all I can think of is fall! As soon as fall comes around I am ready to bring out my red lips, and I wanted to brag about a few of my all time favorites.

IMG_2167IMG_2168I have been obsessed with the Kate Moss collection of Rimmel London lasting finish lipsticks for a long time. I absolutely love the smoothness of the formula. These lipsticks are not drying at all. They are my go to lipsticks in the winter and fall for tailgates and nights out. I have these lipsticks in the shades 111, 11, and 107. I bought them all at Ulta for $5.49 which is a steal for how fantastic these lipsticks are!

111 is a great bright and bold true red. 11 leans more toward a shade of deep burgundy. 107 is my ultimate go to! I have replaced this lipstick half a dozen times because I’ve used it so much. It’s a deep red with some magenta undertones.

I would recommend using a lip liner with all of these to keep your lipstick from bleeding throughout the day. I completely recommend these for long wear. I wear these to tailgates and football games and only have to reapply once. I can’t wait for the first home game of the season so my fabulous bold red lip can make a comeback.

Foundation Faves

When it comes to foundations, I am always changing up my go-to products. I know it’s probably not the best for my skin, but when something new hits the shelves I can’t help myself. My two current favorites are the Maybelline Fit Me! foundation and the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation.

IMG_2053This is the Fit Me! in the shade 110. It was $5.94 at Walmart. I used this foundation through most of the summer and I loved how lightweight it was. The formula is on the thin side and works great on normal to dry skin. I like it for the summer time because my skin is usually more clear so I can use a foundation with less coverage. This foundation provides light coverage, and I normally use a touch of concealer in addition to it.

I must say, the Superstay Better Skin foundation tops the Fit Me! I have it in the IMG_2052shade 10 and it was $9.98 at Walmart. The price was a little higher than the Fit Me! foundation but it is worth it! It is seriously the only foundation I reach for every day. Now that school is back in session, stress has thrown my skin out of whack. This foundation gives me everything I need. It is an oil free formula so it works better for slightly oily skin. The formula is on the thick side and the foundation provides medium to full coverage. Most days I don’t even need concealer, which says a lot about how well this foundation works! I don’t know where I would be without it.

Hello everyone!

I’m just a girl who loves to pamper herself and get all dolled up. Some high end products are worth the extra dollar signs, but the only issue is that all of these beauty products start to hurt my bank account. Living on a college budget, I can’t be dropping all of my money on every shiny new product that hits the shelves. Instead, I like to hunt down the best beauty buys for affordable prices. Some bargain buys are fantastic and I don’t know how I made it without them…others not so much. I just want to share some of the products I love and ones that don’t quite reach the bar. I’m ready to begin this fabulous journey!
